2013 Legislative Session
Business leaders from across Southwest Louisiana traveled to Baton Rouge May 7 for the annual Chamber SWLA Day at the Capitol. During lunch at the Capitol Visitor's Center, the group heard from House Speaker Chuck Kleckley, Senators Ronnie Johns and Blade Morrish, Representative Mike Danahay, Treasurer State John Kennedy, Agriculture Commissioner Dr. Mike Strain and Governor Bobby Jindal.
Southwest Louisiana is poised to begin an era of unprecedented growth, given the historically significant economic development projects announced over the past few months. If our communities are to fully realize the potential benefits of this activity, we must meet the new challenges these opportunities present by supporting our higher education institutions to nurture a highly skilled local workforce, addressing transportation and infrastructure needs to keep pace with progress and continue to develop our coastal assets and regional competitiveness. With this in mind, the Chamber SWLA has included the following instruments in our 2013 Legislative Agenda.
